Competency : S&OP Strategy and Process Design
Definition:

Determines Sales and Operations Planning strategy for each business/category/ segment; implements appropriate processes, organization and tools; deploys, trains people and develops organization’s capability

Expert Proficient Developing Basic
Participates in the strategic planning process of the business and contributes supply chain perspective to the process Provides supply chain inputs for the strategic planning process of the business    
 
Defines and reviews S&OP strategy for each business segments including product families, planning horizons, planning frequency, policies etc. Uses the output of the strategic planning to align / fine tune and document S&OP process, categories, planning rhythm etc. Relates the S&OP process structure to the product, demand and supply characteristic of a business segment Explains the reasons for differentiated S&OP process structure for each business segment
 
Develops and reviews S&OP policy, process, inputs and outputs of the process, process stakeholders & their roles, key meetings, decision making framework  Details out, communicates and implements the S&OP policy, process steps, input and output formats, planning calendar, review meeting agenda and participants etc. Monitors adherence to the agreed process Ensures adherence to the agreed S&OP process using checklists, process charts and templates Provides inputs to continuously improve the adherence to the process Demonstrates the understanding of S&OP process and contributes as a member of S&OP team
 
Defines and reviews the organization structure, roles & responsibilities for each step of S&OP, at country / regional / global levels and interfaces with the rest of organizations  Supports the implementation of the organization structure, roles & responsibilities, at country / regional / global levels and interfaces with the rest of organizations Monitors adherence to the agreed process  Ensures desired level of performance for self and reporting team members in accordance with the defined roles and responsibilities Demonstrates the understanding of the roles assigned and how it impacts the success of the S&OP process
